Stratford-upon-Avon is a medieval market town, that is home to William Shakespeare’s childhood home and his grave. Those 2 things alone make it a pretty awesome place, however there is also a lot more to it to make it even more awesome!
Here are some of the places we think are worth spending a bit of time at while you’re there.
Eating By The River Avon
The River Avon runs through Stratford-upon-Avon, making it a very scenic place. Why not either take a picnic, or grab some food from a local restaurant or shop and sit by the river; enjoy the peace and calm that comes with it. If you go on a Sunday, you can enjoy some of the street food from the market by the water front. They have lots of variety, there is even a canal boat that has been turned into a pizza oven place – how cool is that!?
Watch A Play In The Park
As you walk along the river to the church, you’ll come across an area on the right where actors perform as you sit and watch. There’s a huge tree stump that you can’t really miss. Sit on the grass, or a blanket if you have one, and enjoy as they entertain you!
Shakespeare’s Childhood Home
William Shakespeare’s childhood home! So cool! Where his creative mind started. You can hear stories from their family life and see rare historic objects.
Holy Trinity Church

The Holy Trinity Church is where William Shakespeare was baptised, where he attended church services, and where he was buried. Historical and pretty to look at – can’t go wrong! Check the opening hours before you go – Sunday is closed to visitors due to church services.
River Boat Cruise
There are a few different companies to choose from. So check them out before hand and decide which you would prefer to relax on the river with, and do a bit of sightseeing.
Hire A Boat
If you don’t fancy relaxing on a river boat cruise with other people, why not hire a boat yourself!? It will make the day even more fun and memorable.
This is just a short list of things to do, there is lots more fun to be had!
Great post 😁

I loved my long weekend in Stratford-upon-Avon, we hired a little boat for a boat ride on the Avon, had a picnic on the bank (shared with the geese) and looked around the town and the buildings
