5 Reasons To LOVE Autumn!

Today is the first day of October! Where the heck has this past 10 months gone!? I can’t believe we are here, in Autumn, already! I’m not complaining though. I absolutely LOVE Autumn! Here’s why…

1. Colours

The colours that come up in Autumn are so warm and cosy. Does that sound weird?? When I see the burnt oranges, mustard yellows, amber, dark greens, mahogany….I just think cosy, warm thoughts!

2. Nature and Wildlife

Autumn comes with colour changing leaves, conkers, acorns, and hedgehogs. We love going for walks and collecting little autumn treasures! We like to look out for wildlife too and see if we can spot their habitats.

3. Fashion

Autumn fashion is perfection! I’m a sucker for it…..just wish I had the money to buy all the gorgeous outfits I see! (I am struggling to find some ankle boots though….So if you have some that you love or have suggestions, let me know in the comments below!)

I have to try to avoid going in shops that sell kids clothes…..it’s so hard to resist kids outfits. I try to let my kids wear what they want….but sometimes I live my wardrobe through the girls! Freckled Face number 2 is a total summer girl and would live in shorts, flipflops and a vest top or t-shirt if she could, but she’s adjusting to autumn nicely….

4. Atmosphere

Autumn also means Halloween, and for us in the UK – Bonfires and Fireworks! Oh and can’t forget Fire Pits. We love sitting around the fire pit, toasting marshmallows and chatting. Fun with family and friends. Parties, gatherings and get togethers. The excitement of dressing up, wrapping up warm and celebrating. The “oooo” and “ahhhh” while watching the fireworks (with fingers in ears/ear muffs for some kids!) Fun times!

5. Food

Food! I love food. Too much maybe! As Autumn is the start of the weather cooling down, it means lovely warm-you-up comfort food begins! Chilli, Stew (with dumplings or without, whatever your preference!), Soups….you get the picture! Whilst it might not be food; Hot Chocolates are a must!

So they are the reasons I love Autumn! Oh and I love the word ‘Autumnal’! Haha!
